We are pleased to announce that CNCF's Kim Dong Kindergarten is nearing completion! Here at the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) we believe that the key to a country's progress lies in the education of its children. As such, one of CNCF's key focuses is to better people's way of life through…
Over the last few years CNCF has been committed to the construction of kindergartens within the Mekong Delta region. So, it is with great pleasure that we can announce that our most recent project with Vinh Long Province – the Kim Dong Kindergarten – is fully funded and nearing completion!
There were a number of people and groups to thank that contributed to the funding of this project, including the profits from our Ladies Long Lunch,Peter Doody & Mick Lynch's Dinner Dance in August 2013, and the Ankor Wat Half Marathon Charity Challenge.
At the moment the Kim Dong kindergarten is being constructed on an area of 1,462 square metres, and comprises of 3 classrooms (90 square metres per room, inclusive of toilet areas), corridors, electricity and plumbing.
It is expected to solve the shortage of classrooms for100% of the children aged 5, 80% of the children aged 3-4, and10-15% of nursery-aged children - all of which come from 4 surrounding hamlets (An Hoa, An Hoa 1, An Thanh and An Phu).
A few of our dedicated fundraisers; Kirrily, Lorraine and Rae, were given the opportunity to visit the kindergarten construction site and meet with local government and education officials. Here they were able to visit the project located in the Mekong Delta to see the results of their incredible efforts throughout the year. The project was well underway and they were completing the brickwork, building the verandah and preparing to put the roof in place.
The project is expected to be ready early 2014.
As it was the first visit to Vietnam for Lorraine and Raelene, they were both overwhelmed to see the real life difference all their fundraising had done. You can see more photos on our FB page
