20 intrepid travellers from the UK, Netherlands, India, Vietnam, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and the US joined Terry, Joss, Amy & Kirrily from Australia on the Mongolia Noble Challenge to cycle 115km, hike 43km and horseride 55km through the Terelj National Park of Mongolia.
The team also successfully raised around $90,000 through their fundraising challenge as well. The funds will be directed to the Blue Skies Ger Village which our Noble Challengers had the pleasure of visiting directly after the Challenge.
After a welcome dinner and briefing at the Bayangor Hotel in Ulaanbaatar (UB) where we met our local guides Scott and Timur, we headed off for a short drive from UB the next morning already kitted up ready to jump on the bikes for Day 1. We met the rest of our team for the trip, including our drivers, catering team and support crew. We all get allocated our bikes and add our gel seats, pedals and have a little practice ride before the official start.
The first day took us across stunning plains and valley's, meeting up with lots of local wildlife and being torn between watching where we were cycling and the epic views unfolding before us. There were many many hills and valleys crossed on Day 1 and seeing the mess tent coming into the final valley was very welcomed! Day 2 took us into a big and long valley with the most stunning rock formations sheltering us for lunch, we rode into a nice little headwind before the final climb & descent into a stunning camp site on the edge of a chilly river.
