The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF) has operated in Mongolia since 1997, working with the poorest children and their families. The largest project is the Sponsorship Programme, by which children receive cash every month directly from foreign sponsors.This money is used to pay for necessities such as food, fuel and school uniforms. Many of the families CNCF supports are headed by single women, often with very difficult backgrounds resulting from the common social problems of unemployment and alcoholism. Surviving day-to-day is a great struggle, particularly in Mongolia’s unforgiving climate.

The Poverty Alleviation Programme aims to assist the mothers of our sponsored children to use their skills productively in supporting their families. Working in their homes or in a workshop to be set up by CNCF, the women will make traditional Mongolian felt slippers for adults and children.The role of CNCF is to provide a channel by which their products can be sold abroad, while ensuring that the women receive a fair price for their work.
