On 14 December 2009, Christina Noble was awarded the Mongolian "Friendship Medal" by the Mongolian President, Tsakhia Elbegdorj at the presidential palace in Ulaanbataar. This is the highest honour bestowed by the Mongolian Government to non nationals and represents the appreciation of Mongolians for the services provided by the Christina Noble Charitable Fund to Mongolian children and families. Previous recipients of the Friendship Medal have included the Tibet Foundation, the International Development Research Centre and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The President and Christina talked about the work of the Foundation in Mongolia and the President expressed great interest in the same. In addition to its child sponsorship program which benefits over a thousand Mongolian Children, CNCF runs drop in clinics and a mobile night clinic in Ulaanbataar. Education programs including vocational training are also provided at all levels and also benefit children in prisons. In October 1997, CNCF set up the Blue Skies Ger Village which is a residential care facility for orphaned, homeless and abandoned children. Located in the Baynhoshuu District on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, the Blue Skies Ger Village seeks to ensure that the children in their care enjoy a loving environment while providing education and healthcare with respect to Mongolian customs and traditions. Despite the many challenges presented by the difficult terrains and the high levels of food and health insecurity in Mongolia, CNCF continues to make a difference to the lives of many Mongolian children and families.
