The information below is the current application requirements for people wishing to volunteer their services for The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation in Vietnam.
Although the majority of our volunteers are recruited for our Social and Medical Centre, we also have spaces for people with the following specialised skills; Medical, Sports and Music/Arts/Drama/
GENERAL INFORMATION
When applying for a volunteer position you should be aware that it is of the utmost importance that we respect the cultural & environmental differences when working in Vietnam and present a tolerant, patient and respectful attitude. Although we are a foreign aid organisation we are totally committed to respecting and upholding the Vietnamese cultures.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
The minimum length of stay for volunteers is 3 months. This is to ensure that volunteers have adequate time to be trained, adjust and contribute as best they can, whilst ensuring that minimum disruption is caused for the children and staff. Secondly volunteers need to be at least 21 years old. We also ask that volunteers have the necessary experience for the volunteer position that they apply for. Volunteers working in the Social and Medical Centre must have experience with working with children, the Art and Music volunteer needs to have experience in the these areas and the Sports volunteer needs to have experience within the sporting field.
THE ROLE OF THE VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers work primarily in our Social and Medical Centre. This Centre is a rehabilitation centre for children who are malnourished or suffer from acute illnesses; some are disabled and some able-bodied. These children are aged from newborn to about 13 years of age.
Volunteers may also be invited along on excursions organised for the Sunshine Children from our other projects for e.g. The Sunshine School, Girl’s and Boy’s Shelter. These can involve days out to the beach, trips to the water park etc. These are great fun packed days.
There are limited spaces in the Art and Music Project and Sports Project. The Children in these projects range for 6 – 18 years of age. These roles involve working with the Coordinator to ensure that classes and activities run smoothly as well as encouraging and instructing staff and students within these projects
* Depending on your experience your role as a volunteer may change from those above.
