With a number of great new Committee of Management members aboard, the team in Australia are building some pretty big plans to expand the fundraising and awareness we do in the region.
In 2015 we experienced a great opportunity with the release of Noble, the biopic film of our Founders life.
It had a moderate distribution in Australia and New Zealand was the jewel in the crown in regards to the number of cinemas it was screened in. New Zealand has a much more independent cinema culture and it was showing in over 70 cinemas across the country and was really well received by audiences.
To be able to provide a better level of support to New Zealand we are looking at what we need to do to create a legal entity, be a registered charity and offer donors a tax receipt.
This will be a significant investment of funds and resources to get this established AND we are very confident that we will get so much more back.
Along with the potential for expanding into New Zealand, we are looking at other opportunities to significantly increase the funds that we raise here in Australia and New Zealand.
We have three main focuses for 2017 and 2018
- Noble Members
- Noble Challenges
- Grants & Philanthropy
- Developing Social Enterprises
The journey so far
- Work smarter not harder! - We have started using technology a lot better, we implemented new services to manage our child sponsorship programme, made it easier for people to sign up for child sponsorship, simplified how to donate online and for specific campaigns that are important to you. And very importantly, we have new systems to keep your data safe.
- Use it or lose it - we checked through all our finances and expenses and talked to providers and negotiated better rates. Some things we kept, some we got a better deal and some we dumped.
- Getting the right people on the bus - we reviewed all the tasks that we do here at the office and figured out what do we really want to be putting our time and energy into and who is really the best person to do that task! We have outsourced the things that take us away from raising awareness and funds for our programmes in Vietnam and Mongolia and we have given them to the experts. We identified that there are 4 key roles that we need, support for our wonderful Noble Community Development, Marketing, Grants Manager and someone to drive the bus. We will always of course heavily rely on specialist volunteers to work with our team in a range of areas.
It takes money and resources to run a sustainable and efficient business and running a charity is no different. From experience we know that there is a limit to what you can do with a couple of part-time staff and handful of volunteers, limited budget and cramped office space.
So to take us to the next level, we are going to have to invest in ourselves aswell. This lead to the development of the Noble Members idea.
If you know what it takes to run an efficient, successful and sustainable organisation, you know it takes vision, a plan, the right team and the right resources.
We all want our donated and fundraised dollar to get the greatest impact and to get to the projects that we care about. We have always been very proud of the impact that we make with our modest income. If you read our latest global annual report, you will see that globally we operate at only 10% direct fundraising cost. Although this might be impressive, it certainly isn't sustainable. In a recent letter from Christina in the 2015 Global Annual Report, says
"The unfortunate truth is that the modern day charity has become incredibly competitive, if not at times aggressive. In recent years raising funds globally has become increasingly challenging for charities of our size, and we continue to do what we can do address this."
That's why we are looking for you!
For us to grow and impact another million children, we need your help. We are looking for people and organisations like yourself that will back us to do what we do best.
We need to raise $20,000 to create our Noble Members Program, we have a great group of experts in developing the program specifically for CNCF and so are looking for Founding Noble Members to help kick it off!
Founding Noble Members start from $500 (or $50 a month)
