In September , 2 inspiring 'young men' left Australia to cycle over 400km from Cambodia to Vietnam in a magnificent effort to raise money to contribute to building a kindergarten in an area of the Mekong Delta. Peter and Mick, both Vietnam Veterans, have an affinity for the country of Vietnam and have…
They both wanted to make this next trip really worthwhile and with the generous help of a number of people from the Vietnamese Community in Melbourne, they held a great Dinner/Dance event. On the night they raised $16,000 to contribute directly to the construction of a kindergarten in the Vinh Long Province. CNCF Australia is currently working with the local authorities to build new facilities for some of the poorest hamlets in the area and increase the number of children enrolled in early childhood education.
The Dinner Dance was held at Happy Receptions in Ascotvale and with the incredible commitment of Kymlee, Win & MC Bruce, over 300 guests contributed to raising just over $16,000. Peter & Mick headed off on their trip the following week grateful and humbled.
The highlight for both of them was meeting with Christina after their safe arrival in Ho Chi Minh City where Christina kept them entertained with her singing and playing with her granddaughter.
A big thanks to Peter & Mick for taking on such an inspiring personal challenge, to the people that supported them in organising such a successful event and all the companies and supporters who were so generous in supplying donated goods.
