Medical Assistance Programme
- Vietnam -
Our Medical Assistance Programme (MAP) provides emergency medical assistance to children from very poor families. This includes the cost of life saving surgical procedures, post-operative care and follow up treatments, social support and free health insurance.
Within MAP we also have our Medical Exchange Programme (MEP) working in collaboration with Operation Child Life. MEP is designed to help establish best practice in all areas of pediatric surgery in Vietnam. MEP was originally established in 2003 by CNCF together with a medical team from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland led by Professor Martin Corbally who then later registered as a charity named Operation Child Life . The aim of the programme is to bring world-class medical expertise to Vietnam on an annual basis, whilst also taking pediatric Vietnamese medical teams to Ireland for surgical and general medical training .
