The little boy pictured has cerebral palsy and mild malnutrition. The little girl suffered a brain hemorrhage in her infancy and has cerebral palsy as a result. The braces are made at the hospital and are ready within two weeks of the fitting and plaster cast mould. They are worn by the Children to help to improve muscle function and support the leg during physiotherapy sessions.
Irish volunteers, Orla and Laura are photographed assisting while the orthopedic surgeon plasters the leg to make a mould for the splints.
