Today marks #EarthDay, a global environmental awareness day where events are held worldwide to promote healthy, sustainable living and the importance of looking after the Earth for future generations.
At the Foundation we strongly believe in this message and the powerful impact a loving and respectful relationship with nature and the environment can have on our children.
Another important way we cultivate their connection with the Earth is through our Horticulture Project where we teach our children how to grow healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables to nourish their bodies and minds.
The children love getting involved and there is always a great sense of pride and achievement when our young gardeners get to eat the vegetables they have grown.
This year our green fingered children and staff are going to be hard at work as we've planned to grow more than ever before; tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, potatoes, cabbages, carrots, peas, beans, strawberries and watermelons...yum yum!
We will make sure to keep you posted as our plants begin to grow, but for now check out these photos of our children preparing the land and our first sprouts of the season!
